The US called on Russia to negotiate

Posted on 10/05/2024

The State Department emphasized that the negotiations must take place in accordance with the principles that are the basis of the international community and the UN Charter: sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence.

The United States is ready to negotiate with Russia if the Kremlin demonstrates a sincere desire for this. This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, reported on Monday, April 29, by Radio Liberty .

“The end of the war mainly depends on Vladimir Putin and what he decides… I hope that Putin will understand the message and demonstrate a willingness to negotiate sincerely in accordance with the basic principles, the basis of the international community and the UN Charter: sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence. If they are properly confirmed, a resolution should be adopted,” he said in a conversation with World Economic Forum President Borge Brende in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about possible negotiations, Blinken noted that the United States will participate in them.

“Once Russia demonstrates that it sincerely wants to negotiate, we will definitely be there, and I believe the Ukrainians will be there,” he said.

Blinken also noted the unification of Ukrainians and the weakness of Russia. Overall, Russia is weaker economically and militarily, given the destruction of so many of its forces, he said.

“At the same time, Ukrainians are united like never before, in particular, united against Russia, which was not the case before 2014, when Russia carried out its first aggression against Ukraine. NATO is stronger and bigger,” said the US Secretary of State.

The head of the State Department also admitted that Europe’s refusal of Russian energy resources is a strategic failure for Russia.

“Europe has freed itself from dependence on Russian energy resources in extraordinary ways in just two years. All this, I believe, is a huge strategic failure for Russia,” the head of the State Department emphasized, expressing hope that the Kremlin understands this.
