The head of the Presidential Office named a factor that will increase the desire of citizens to mobilize

Posted on 02/06/2024

The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, believes that the more weapons are supplied to Ukraine, the more Ukrainians will be willing to join the country’s armed forces.

Ermak, at the Summit for Democracy on May 14 in Copenhagen, answering a question about potential problems with mobilization in Ukraine, Ermak said that “not a single mobilization in the history of any country has been popular.” At the same time, he identified characteristics that influence Ukrainian motivation.

“We have demonstrated in two years that our troops are highly motivated, but that depends on how we equip our brigades. This is extremely consistent with the clear political decisions taken by our partners. Therefore, we are quite ready to continue negotiating” security agreements based on the Vilnius Declaration. We are working very hard with our American friends and colleagues.”

Ermak emphasized that Ukraine seeks only one thing from its partners: a sufficient number of weapons. “Our people are not tired. Our people are strong. Our heroes continue to fight. We need additional air defense, artillery, long-range missiles and the ability to use them to respond. Because sometimes the only problem is that our soldier does not have enough ammunition and weapons.”
